Tools required -
WD40 for loosening bolts/nuts the night before.
Screwdriver for jubilee clip
Small socket set
Allen key
Parts required
EGR blanking plate
Replacement tube (mine came from Devon 4x4)
Small plug/bung to blank vacuum pipe
Remove engine cowl and radiator cowl to give access to Inlet and exhaust manifolds and the EGR pipe and connectors.
EGR Valve left, EGR pipe centre.
Undo two Allen bolts on flange connecting EGR pipe to exhaust manifold. I soaked these in WD40 the night before but both came out easy enough. The bottom bolt is difficult to access whilst the EGR pipe is still connected.
Undo the bolt holding the EGR pipe clip to the engine block, (centre right arrow), undo the jubilee clip holding the air inlet pipe to the EGR valve (centre arrow), undo the four bolts holding the EGR valve to the inlet manifold (left arrow). Disconnect the vacuum pipe, below the left arrow.
It should now be possible to lift the complete EGR valve and pipe free from the engine and remove. There was a considerable amount of sludge in the inlet pipe which I have cleaned out as best as possible, to think that was going in with the clean air.
Replacement pipe and blanking plate. Note the small rubber bung currently through the left hole in the blanking plate.
This is to cap the vacuum pipe with.
Blanking plate fitted.
