αυτή ειναι η απάντηση της Mitsibshi Europe σχετικα με το καψιμο του δισκου στην αμμο.
We would like to thank you for writing us and for bringing your complaint to our attention. We have
completed our review of further details as provided by our importer “JASON S.A.” and by you. Through
this letter we would like to respond to your complaint and try to clarify our position.
As we are convinced about the high quality of our products, we offer one of the most comprehensive
warranty covers in the automobile industry for product defects. Thanks to our extensive warranty cover
the Mitsubishi Motors car owner is covered for product defects throughout Europe during the first 24
months without any mileage restrictions and during the remaining 12 months with a limitation of 100,000
km (whichever comes first). All details about the coverage can be found in the “Pan-European Service”
booklet in your car.
Despite this comprehensive warranty cover certain parts are exempted. These are listed in the booklet
mentioned above. Clutch discs and brake parts for example are subject to wear. Wear is depending on
a variety of influences like usage of the car (e.g. towing), climate, driving patterns (long distance versus
short distance) and so on. Clutch discs can take slip for a certain period of time but when the difference
in rpm in both discs (engine side and drive chain side) is high while the discs are being engaged then
the clutch may overheat. This seems to be what happened in the situation you have described in your
letter. The Outlander is indeed equipped with a 4WD but it is still an SUV model and cannot quit be
compared to a car like the Pajero.
The function of the 4WD mode on your car is to provide more grip in for example wet road conditions
and while driving on unpaved roads like the ones on a camping site for example. A model like the
Pajero is equipped with high/low low gear transmission and Rear Differential Lock, which enables the
vehicle to get out of situations similar to the one you were in.
Of course we can fully appreciate the negative impact of the repair costs and we regret that you have
been confronted with these while your car is quite new. On the other hand we hope that our explanation
will be of help to understand the market positioning of the Outlander (SUV class), which does give some
restrictions with regard to off-road usage. Despite your unfortunate experience we do hope that the car
will overall be to your satisfaction and will provide a lot of driving pleasure.
Yours sincerely,
M. Bakker, J. Weijden
